My teaching
Teaching is mutually energizing - it's a dynamic exchange of ideas and insights, an essentially human activity. I love to see and hear my students light up with new understanding as they cultivate and express their distinct voices. Curiosity and life long learning are key ingredients in the life recipe I model for my students. Although I specifically teach flute and piccolo lessons and coach chamber music, what I am essentially focused on is helping students learn how to present their very best selves. What else? I believe learning and teaching should be fun, so I look to have each lesson include some laughter and joy. The most common complaint I hear about lessons: they just end too quickly.

What people are saying . . .
About lessons:
Dr. Arnone helped me with so much more than just flute playing. Her never ending support and belief that I could achieve my goals as long I put in the time and work had such a positive impact, and showed me that being a musician involves all aspects of your life. I learned from her how to incorporate healthy life habits into my music making, and to explore what makes music speak and become impactful. She is an inspiring teacher and I often find myself echoing the things I heard from her when I teach my own students! - Allison Jayroe Dr. Arnone has an endless passion for music. She cultivates her students not only into artistic musicians, but into professionals of society. After each week studying with Dr. Arnone, I felt myself gain the confidence that I lacked. Under her tutelage, I have learned that music is not just about virtuosity or technique, but the beauty of the message you are sending. Dr. Arnone . . . helped me tap into hidden potential I never knew I had. I thought you were an incredibly inspiring teacher and you showed such love for what you do! |
Before I studied with Dr. Arnone, my tone quality lacked the energy and vibrancy that I wanted to achieve on the flute. But after working with her, I discovered new body awareness techniques that allowed me to perform with a resonate and vibrant tone quality. - Darbi Elliott Lamrani Dr. Arnone is a teacher who has encouraged me to develop my own unique voice on the flute and who has also cultivated a passion within me for chamber music and collaboration. It is very apparent to me that she cares deeply for her students and helps us achieve our goals while inspiring us to share our music with the world. |
