Your Audition Advantage©
The extra boost for your upcoming audition or performance
- Do you have an important upcoming audition or performance? – maybe a competition, or an entrance audition for your university and conservatory applications?
- Worried about your preparation?
- Getting ready for Area, All-state, chair-placement tests, or other playing under pressure?
- Wondering what the jury members actually look for?
- Starting to get a little nervous even thinking about this?
We are all familiar with making the most of working online, and this program offers you a chance to help meet your goals
Wait, everything is online? Well, many schools, universities, festivals, and competitions are using online formats for video submissions. At the University of South Florida (where I teach), we're doing video auditions for school ensemble placement auditions, juries, and yes - entrance auditions. Every program is different, but video auditions may be here to stay.
These are great opportunities, but can also create even more competition.
That’s where Your Audition Advantage comes in.
I love helping flutists succeed. I’m a freelance orchestral, chamber, and solo recitalist with 20 years of university teaching experience. I’ve served on competition panels for the National Flute Association, national festivals and competitions in 12 states, and professional auditions. That means I’ve listened to and reviewed countless entrance auditions and applications, from college undergraduate through doctoral levels, and musicians at nearly every stage of their careers. Being an independent musician, I’m able to provide completely unbiased advice and be an extra check point to help secure your audition advantage. Our work together will be designed to complement the excellent instruction you are already receiving from your private teacher.
And I'm excited to offer you . . .
Independent, Professional, and Expert evaluation of your recorded audition material. The idea is you’ll be able to get detailed comments well before your deadline so you’ll have time to assimilate them.
Designed to complement your work with your own instructor, this will provide an audition advantage to boost your chances of succeeding.

“ Outside perspective is vital to progress and Dr. Arnone’s YOUR AUDITION ADVANTAGE is the ideal vehicle for students to receive brilliant feedback from a discerning, experienced professional. Dr. Arnone’s vast knowledge, attention to detail, and care will benefit both students and teachers.
I recommend her groundbreaking service to all of my students as I know she will assist them in hearing more deeply and understanding how their recordings may be perceived. This service is invaluable to me as a teacher as I encourage students to be ready prior to deadlines.
They now have an exceptional critical listener in Dr. Arnone and have time to make adjustments or re-record. This will be transformative in terms of submitting quality recordings. I simply cannot recommend it highly enough - thank you to Dr. Arnone!"

What participants are saying . . .
“Thank you so much for all of the comments on my excerpts. While watching your video, I kept having “Ah-ha!” moments and really enjoyed hearing all your suggestions on how to improve. I’m especially grateful for your comments on the things I didn’t know I was doing (or not doing). I also appreciate your encouraging words as well.”
" . . . a very unique and helpful resource. Having an unbiased set of ears listen to my recordings and offer comments in multiple formats provided me with extremely clear and invaluable feedback."
“As a recent graduate without regular weekly lessons, Dr. Arnone’s input and suggestions were very helpful as I prepared my DMA applications and prescreening recordings. She not only let me know what a committee might notice in my recordings, but also gave insightful tips on how I might continue to improve my playing.”
"I found Dr. Arnone’s feedback on my pre-screening videos to be extremely helpful and prompt. . . Based on her feedback I was able to adjust my recording set up to showcase my skills a little better, tweak my contemporary technique fingerings to work better for me, and to utilize her practice technique suggestions to work on a few passages."
